I help clients navigate the financial and emotional complexities of divorce and separation with clarity and confidence. With over 17 years’ experience in family law, I combine a calm, supportive approach with practical, solutions-focused advice.
I am a consultant family law solicitor with extensive experience supporting clients through the financial complexities that arise on divorce and separation.
Since qualification the majority of my career was spent at a leading Oxfordshire family law firm, ranked Tier 1 by The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, before joining Setfords on a Consultancy basis in 2020.
I advise on a wide range of family matters with particular experience in divorce and resolving financial claims, whether through the court process or by alternative dispute resolution methods such as arbitration and mediation.
I take a pragmatic and thoughtful approach, focused on achieving sensible, constructive outcomes tailored to each client’s circumstances. As one client put it, “Your service has been excellent and your professionalism impeccable throughout.”
I also work with unmarried couples and can help with nuptial agreements, civil partnerships and separation.
Clients often value my calm, approachable manner and the clarity I bring to difficult situations. One client noted, “From our first meeting I found Elizabeth to be incredibly empathetic to my circumstances. She is very calm, very measured and expert in her approach.”
Another shared, “I always felt like she was on my side and wanted to help me get the best settlement possible. She has a natural empathy, which must be tremendously valuable in family law.”
I am committed to finding solutions that reflect the needs of the whole family, particularly where children are involved. Clients often appreciate the reassurance I provide during what can be an uncertain time.
As one client said, “Thank you so very much for all your help, advice and guidance. Your expertise provided me with much clarity during a stressful and trying period in my life.”
I aim to build trusted relationships with my clients, combining clear advice with strong, effective representation. As one client kindly put it, “Thanks again for all your assistance in the divorce, you’ve played such a huge part in the process and in changing my life! You patiently explained things every step of the way and your promptness and efficiency has been second to none.”
My office is based in Oxford, appointments are available remotely or by telephone.
“Something will grow from all you are going through. And it will be you.” — Lemn Sissay
A cohabitation agreement is a written document between two people living together or planning to. It establishes how finances, property, and responsibilities are managed, & what happens if you later separate.
Divorce is the legal process of bringing a marriage to an end. It also requires clear attention to financial matters, including property, pensions, income, and long-term provision.
Relationship agreements and financial arrangements often need more than a general conversation. They require careful legal consideration, clear documentation, and an understanding of the financial position behind the relationship. Elizabeth assists clients who need structured legal advice where assets, property, income, pensions and future provision need to be properly addressed.
Whether the matter concerns planning ahead, formalising an agreement, or resolving financial arrangements during a family law process, the right guidance can help create clarity from the outset.
