Governance and Regulatory Positioning
Stocker Family Law is committed to maintaining high standards of professional integrity, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of its operations. The brand operates as a client engagement and marketing platform associated with Elizabeth Stocker, a consultant solicitor practising in England and Wales.
Elizabeth Stocker currently provides legal services through Setfords Solicitors and may also provide services through other regulated law firms. Any legal advice or representation is delivered through those regulated firms, each of which is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and operates under its own terms of business and professional obligations.
Governance within Stocker Family Law therefore reflects a dual structure:
Oversight of marketing, communications, and client enquiry handling through the Stocker Family Law platform
Delivery of legal services, regulatory compliance, client care, and professional obligations through the instructed law firm
The purpose of this structure is to:
Ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory frameworks, including SRA Standards and Regulations, UK GDPR, and relevant consumer protection legislation
Maintain clear separation between marketing activity and regulated legal services
Provide transparency to clients regarding who is responsible for their legal work
Ensure that all legal advice is delivered through appropriately authorised and insured entities
Support consistent, high-quality client experience from initial enquiry through to legal instruction
Where you proceed with legal services, you will receive a separate client care letter and terms of business from the relevant law firm, which will govern that relationship, including scope of work, fees, complaints procedures, and regulatory protections.
Stocker Family Law does not hold client money, does not provide reserved legal activities directly, and does not operate as a regulated law firm. All such responsibilities sit with the instructed firm.
Elizabeth Stocker, as a consultant solicitor, remains bound by professional duties including confidentiality, acting in the client’s best interests, and compliance with applicable SRA Codes of Conduct, regardless of the firm through which she is practising.
This governance approach ensures that:
Clients receive regulated legal protection at the point of instruction
Professional indemnity insurance is held at firm level
Complaints and redress mechanisms are available through the instructed firm and, where applicable, the Legal Ombudsman
We review our governance position periodically to ensure it remains aligned with regulatory requirements, professional standards, and the evolving structure of consultant-led legal services.
